Daily thoughts… Day 5 of 366

New horizons approach!

Today my friend and I did a thing – a trip was booked! Both of us are celebrating our 50th year and have never been to this place, even though it’s on our doorstep.

The photo will hopefully give you a hint, and if I tell you that one of the landmarks has 2,500,00 rivets you might have an inkling… There is a famous gateway to the city that took 30 years to construct (from 1806-1867) and one of the historic sites had a catastrophic fire almost 5 years ago, luckily no hunchbacks were harmed! The 14th July is a celebrated as a national day, when the city’s prison was stormed and later destroyed a year later.

It feels good to have something tangible to look forward to, and while this year is probably going to bankrupt me, these days I am very much an advocate of the “just do it” movement. Yes, financial security is important (I am a very cautious person when it comes to finances) but what I have learned is it’s fatal to put things off. Life is too short to wait until retirement or the mortgage is paid off, get out there and chase your dreams!

So where do you think we are going? Leave your guesses in the comments 🥐

I first started travelling in my 20's and have done some cool things like the Inca Trail, trekked to Everest Base Camp, and visited the most inhospitable place on earth! In 2024 I aim to tick a few new places off my bucket list, sharing these experiences with friends and loved ones. Find me at: www.lizmooney.net
