The 5 (or 6, or 7!) “P’s”
Being an Army cadet was a huge positive influence in my teenage life, and many of the skills I learned have served me well over the years. Apart from giving me confidence, something I was lacking at the time (due to being bullied at school), and acceptance, it taught me resilience, perseverance and most of all that “planning and preparation prevents poor performance”!
This mantra is the cornerstone of everything I do in both my professional and private life and that is why today’s highlight was very exciting, as I’ve sat down and sketched out my plan of activities and adventures for 2024. There are still outings to be added and trips to be organised, but I now feel like I have the beginnings of a Plan.
I acknowledge that some people feel that having plans are restrictive as they may not leave space for spontaneity, but having an idea, a direction of travel – and goals – is very important. I personally love a good plan. If I have thought of things that might de-rail what I want to achieve, and have a Plan B, C or even D in mind, when things do go wrong I know I have options and fail-safes. The outcome might not be what I originally envisaged, but I will achieve something and learn and grow in the process.
Get planning guys!
Agreed, Liz. I love a plan, as you can get so much more done. Best wishes Cx
