It was a balmy -5 degrees on my drive this morning as I was attempting to thaw the ice on the outside AND inside of my windscreen. I had got up at the crack of dawn to get the early train but the thawing took longer than expected and I had the pleasure of sitting the wrong side of the level crossing when my train sailed past! Not a great start to the morning …
I had a lovely 45 minute wait for the next one (the temperature at the station a slightly warmer -4 degrees) and lots of time to start thinking about my next adventure in March! I can now reveal where I’m going and what I’m doing – or rather I will give you hints and invite you to guess 😊
Today’s image was taken a few years ago in Morocco, so you can deduce that I’m going somewhere sandy although the camels you find there are not North African but Arabian dromedaries. The highest temperature in this country can reach 38 degrees in their hottest month, but when I am there it’ll have highs of around 20 degrees and could go down to zero at night (not sure how I feel about this as we will be wild camping!).
I will be trekking through a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where one of the seven wonders of the world is located – which will be our final destination. A raft of famous films have been shot here, including Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars, Transformers and The Martian. It’s also known for its petroglyphs and archaeological remains that date back 12,000 years, and is home to nomadic Bedouins.
Have you guessed yet? Answers on a postcard …
