IMHO it’s good to have goals. They don’t have to be big or difficult, a goal might be to read a book or visit someone you haven’t seen in a while. I lived for many years without any real goals – nothing to mark the passage of time – one day was just like another and before I knew it ten years had passed.
We are all different and some people aren’t goal-oriented, but for me I sometimes need motivation to achieve something. Right now I need to be training for a trek at the beginning of March, it’s almost halfway through January and I need to get on with it! My niece and I have agreed to a weekly fitness challenge, each doing something relative to ourselves, so that we can encourage and motivate each other.
My goal is to do a minimum of 70,000 steps, 30 second plank each day and one yoga class per week. Week 1 is in the bag, with all planks and yoga class done, plus just over 84,200 steps – let’s see if I can keep it going for the rest of the month!
While I am aiming for 10,000 steps per day there is nothing in our agreement that says I have to rush them so this afternoon I took a book on my walk and sat and read for a bit. This is one of the books I mentioned on Day 6, The Raven’s Nest by Sarah Thomas: “An Icelandic journey through light and darkness”. I’ve just started it and am intrigued already. A friend recommended it to me as I hope to visit Iceland later this year, and I have recommended to my Book Club to read in March. I will report back when I’ve finished it!
Time to get some rest, have a great Monday whatever you are doing 💪
